About Pomodoro Timer

The Pomodoro Technique breaks work into focused intervals separated by short breaks — traditionally 25 minutes of work and 5 of rest, with a longer break every fourth round. The timer advances through the cycle automatically and keeps count of the sessions you finish.

How to use it

  1. Adjust the focus, short break and long break lengths if you want.
  2. Press Start and work until the alert sounds.
  3. Take the break the timer moves you into.
  4. After four rounds you get a long break automatically.

Frequently asked questions

Why 25 minutes?

It is long enough for meaningful work and short enough that starting feels easy — which is the real barrier for most people. The length is a convention, not a rule; adjust it to suit your task.

Does the timer run when the tab is hidden?

Yes. It tracks wall-clock time rather than counting intervals, so background throttling cannot make it drift.

Are my sessions saved?

Your settings and today's session count are kept in your browser's local storage. They stay on your device and are never sent anywhere.
