How is reading time calculated?
At 238 words per minute, the average adult silent reading speed for non-technical prose. Speaking time uses 130 words per minute, a typical presentation pace.
What counts as a word?
Any run of characters separated by whitespace. Hyphenated words like "state-of-the-art" count as one, matching the behaviour of Microsoft Word and Google Docs.
Is my text sent to a server?
No. Every calculation runs in JavaScript on your own device. There is no upload, no logging and no account.
